Expenses incurred in the maintenance and repair of your primary residence are not deductible and never have been. There are some things, such as a new roof for example, that will add to the cost basis of the property. But you don't enter that anywhere on your tax return. You just won't deal with it until the tax year you sell or otherwise dispose of the property.
