You have to accurately report your business income regardless of the paperwork, but you don't have to report income that isn't yours if the paperwork is wrong.

 

Your question doesn't really make sense to me.  If you have a sole proprietorship (you are an independent contractor) and your sole prop has its own EIN, you still report all your independent contractor income on schedule C regardless of whether the client used your EIN or your SSN.

 

If the payer made a mistake and used their EIN instead of your EIN, it's still your business income (if you did the work) and you are required to report it.  You should probably inform them of the mistake.
