I need to amend my taxes to report 1099-INT and 1099-MISC received from being part of a lawsuit settlement. When I enter the other income and click continue, it wants me to describe the reason for this 1099-MISC. Do I type "lawsuit settlement" or "Penalties Payment which is how is described on the check stub? Next, I choose This was money from lawsuit settlement. Next question is Was any part of the lawsuit settlement for back wages? I answered NO since a separate w-2 was received for this. But on the Final review, it wants me to add a dollar amount for Back wages paid, do I just type 0.00 on line?
