How can I prove that I e-filed before the April 18 deadline?

As long as you transmit your return before midnight April 18, your return is considered timely filed even if it takes a few days to get accepted.

The Electronic Postmark is a timestamp of when your return was transmitted. Here's how to print out a hard copy for your records:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account
  2. Scroll down to select Your tax returns & documents
  3. Find your filing status history under view efile details on the right
  4. Capture a screenshot or print this page from your web browser

  1. Open your return in TurboTax
  2. In the File menu in the upper left corner, select Electronic Filing, then Show Electronic Filing Status History
  3. From here, you can print a copy
