Tax law changes

Hi @Optimistic_g

Could you please further clarify for the rejection?  Was the tax return rejected by the IRS and/or State Agency due to your nephew already being claimed on another return?

If you are not sure and you submitted your past returns through TurboTax, you can contact a Tax Expert who can help you pinpoint the exact reason of the rejection.  You can also contact the IRS for more information.

If you nephew was claimed on someone else's tax return then you will need to discuss with the person who claimed your nephew.   Here is the IRS link on dependent qualifications IRS Dependency.   This link also includes examples and other helpful information.

If you do need to remove your nephew as a dependent, you can amend your taxes without him, but I would first verify exactly why your return was rejected and also if you have the claim of Dependency before you do so.

Take care!
