Tax law changes

Thank you for your quick response. I followed your guidance. I found the line on Form 1040 that had a number on it.

Line 23 other taxes, including SE tax, from Schedule 2, line 21.  $24

I then went to Schedule 2 line 21 additional tax on IRA’s or other tax-favored accounts. Attach form 5329 if required.

I then went to my 2022 return.

Form 5329. Part VII Additional Tax 6% for excess contributions to HSA’s. I was over $400 allowed in my HSA contribution because I made the mistake of not adding what my employer was going to contribute to my total for the year contribution. (I have since been very careful to not make the same error again.) 6% of 400 is 24. The numbers therefore make sense. I paid this $24 on my 2022 taxes. I see it on my return.

My question now is if I already paid this in 2022, do I have to pay it again in 2023 or is Turbo Tax assuming/anticipating  I am going over again in my HSA contribution?

Thank you!
