Tax law changes
The letter (6419) only shows the amount of Advanced child tax credit (ACTC). These were the monthly deposits you received from July - December of 2021; they were meant to be an "advance" of the child tax credit you would eventually receive. So if you received $1,000 in payments from July to December, your child tax credit ($3,000 per child above age 5) would be $2,000.
Child tax credits have their own form this year (2021) - Schedule 8812. Check that form to see that you properly reported your advance payments - that amount is reported on Line 14f. Since the advanced payments did not exceed the child tax credit you were entitled to, the amount of remaining child tax credit should be on Line 14j; it is also reported on your Form 1040 (page 2) on Line 28. Check those numbers to make sure you were able to claim your entire tax credit.
