Why do I need to file Form 8606T if I've already submitted Form 1099-R for my Roth IRA distribution? I have no other 8606T situations.

Form 8606 is a form to report nondeductible IRAs and other IRA-related transactions that the government needs to track. Examples include:
- Distributions from a Roth IRA (especially to calculate the taxable amount of a nonqualified Roth IRA distribution.)
- Distributions from a traditional, SEP or SIMPLE IRA at any time after you have made nondeductible IRA contributions
- Convert a traditional, SEP or SIMPLE IRA into a Roth IRA
If you feel that the form does not apply to your situation, you can delete it from your return, using these steps:
TurboTax Online
- While in your return, click on Tax Tools > Tools (in the black bar at the side of your screen).
- In the Tools Center, under Other helpful links click on Delete a form.
- Click Delete next to the form you want to delete and follow the onscreen instructions.
- Once you have finished deleting the desired form(s) click the Continue with My Return box (in the lower right of your screen).
TurboTax CD/Download
- Go into Forms Mode by clicking on the Forms icon in the top right of the blue bar.
- In the Forms in My Return list on the left, click on the form you wish to open and delete.
- Click on the Delete Form box at the bottom of the screen.
- To return to the interview, click on the Step-By-Step icon in the top right of the blue bar.

"Distributions from a Roth IRA (especially to calculate the taxable amount of a nonqualified Roth IRA distribution.)"
More accurately, the only Roth IRA distributions reported on Form 8606 are nonqualified Roth IRA distributions and qualified first-time homebuyer distributions. Regular qualified Roth IRA distributions are never reported on Form 8606.
In this case you apparently have received a nonqualified distribution required to be reported on Form 8606 Part III to determine the taxable amount, even if the taxable amount ends up being zero.
