Retirement tax questions
It depends. If you were an employee for anytime in 2016 then yes, you will need your W-2 in order to file your taxes. If you were an independent contractor anytime in 2016 you might need a 1099-MISC to file your taxes.
If you were retired all of 2016, then no, you would not have a W-2 for wages earned. You can file your return without one.
