My pension financial adviser says no code is required in box 7 due to our defined benefit pension. Can I advance in the 1099-R topic with no code in the Box 7?

I don't know what he is smoking but ALL form 1099-Rs MUST have a code in box 7 ... contact the company that issued the forms and skip that fool.
