When claiming the total amount of medical expenses on my 1040. Do I list my total out of pocket or would I list the total balanced paid off if a third party was involved?
The third party is a financial group who paid off the hospital, who didn't offer payment agreements, and set up and arrangement with the financial group.

Retirement tax questions
If you have signed a credit agreement with the financial group and now owe the paid-off amount to the financial group, you can deduct your out-of-pocket amount you paid plus the amount you owe to the financial group as medical expenses.
