I have an employer contribution to my solo HSA account, ($200) after starting work in August and am being told it's all an excess contribution. Does this seem accurate?

It depends.  If you did not have a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), then any contribution is an excess contribution, because you are not allowed to contribute to an HSA if you do not have an HDHP.  If you do have an HDHP, make sure you have indicated as such in the HSA portion of the interview.  For more information, please see this FAQ:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4787500
