Retirement tax questions
After the 1099-R entry screen, enter the information so that MO will recognize the teachers retirement as nontaxable.
- On the Select Your State screen, check the Missouri box and click Continue.
- On the screen, Where is this distribution from, mark the radio button for Public pension...
- Make sure the Missouri distribution amount shows in the box and click Continue.
- On the screen, Was this distribution from a Qualified Plan? Click the box, From a qualified plan.
- Go through the rest of the screens, answering the questions.
The amount of your retirement should show in the Exemptions and Deductions section of the MO-1040, line 8.
