Are you issuing a 1099 to someone else?

No, I received a settlement check from my company in Dec 2017. My lawyer told me that will be receiving a 1099 form. I was just wandering what is it and do I have to file it this year?

A 2017 1099 needs to be filed with your tax return due April 17, 2018.

If you are sending a 2017 1099, it is due January 31, 2018.
