Our 1099-R is for pension received from previous employment - why is it being referred to as an annuity? It is not an annuity.

Retirement tax questions
A pension and an annuity are treated the same way on your tax return. It doesn't matter what it's called. In technical accounting terminology, a pension is an annuity.
