Deduction retirement home facility fees
We moved into a retirement home In December. We sold our home and we paid 40,000. to move in we have around 4200. a month we pay for food, lodging and utilities.

Retirement tax questions
No, these costs are not deductible, they are considered personal expenses. The only time they are deductible is if they are medically necessary such as needing to live in a nursing home due to having dementia and not being able to take care of oneself.
If you moved to an independent retirement community, this is not considered medical, therefore is not deductible.
