Why wasn't my husbands SS benefits not placed on 5a of 1040-SR?

Shouldn't it have been typed on there even if he didn't have to claim it on 5b?

Yes, it should be entered on line 5a.

Have you gone back and checked that you entered it as Net Benefits for 2019 in Box 5 in the interview section for Social Security in TurboTax?

Retirement tax questions

My taxes were rejected twice from IRS stating wrong AGI from 2018. Numbers are all correct. I have attempted to get back into the prep stage but cant seem to in order  check what you said to check.  How do I get back in to the interview part of S.S. to do that? This is becoming a nightmare.

How to get back in your TurboTax return after your e-file has been rejected:

Use "add a state" to get back in your return to make corrections (before filing).

1.    Sign In to TurboTax Online

2.     Click "My TurboTax" menu

3.     Press "Visit My Tax Timeline"

4.     Under the "SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO" heading, choose "Add a state" (you're not really adding a state, this allows you to get back into your return).

5.     Complete/correct as needed.
