Possibly. Student loans are one of the many things refunds can be offset for. You may want to check with your student loan company to see if your account is at that stage yet.

If you are in default on the loan and the lender has filed for garnishment with the IRS, then yes. Nobody here has any way of knowing if your refund is offset for this, or not. But you can check yourself. The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets. You can call this number, go through the automated prompts, and see if you have any offsets pending on your social security number. Good luck getting a human if you need one.
