Deductions & credits
TurboTax calculates your maximum contributions as
- 10/12 of the family-coverage limit of $6,750 split between the two of you ($5,625),
- plus 10/12 of $1,000 catch-up to your HSA ($833),
- plus 2/12 of the $3,400 single-coverage limit to your spouse's HSA ($567),
- plus $1,000 of catch-up to your spouse's HSA ($1,000).
If you allocate the entire 10/12 of the family coverage limit to your HSA and none of it to your spouse's HSA, your maximum contribution is $6,458 and your spouse's maximum contribution is $1,567. If you instead allocate the entire 10/12 of the family coverage limit to your spouse's HSA, your maximum contribution would be $833 and your spouse's maximum contribution would be $7,192. Regardless of how you split the 10/12 of the family limit, the combined maximum contributions will equal $8,025.
