NY taxes were withheld in error.I earned no income in NY. I’m an NC resident and filed state taxes in NC.What do I need to file to get the NY taxes refunded?
Employer withheld NY state taxes in error for the first two months of my employment. This was corrected to NC but I am not sure how to file a second state return for NY to get refund.

State tax filing
If you never lived or worked in NY, or worked remotely for an NY employer, then you would file a NY non-resident tax return, showing zero NY income, in order to obtain a refund of the incorrectly withheld NY taxes.
