Do I have to file tax in the state I lived partially but did not work in?

Hi. I lived in MD for the beginning of MD, and moved to OH as I started my job there. While preparing the tax, the site reminded me to file MD return. Do I have to file it even though I lived there partially and didn't work in MD at all?

As SuperUser TomD8 reminded me, the  MD instruction booklet states that:
"If you began or ended residence in Maryland during the taxyear, you must file a Maryland resident income tax return."

Since you ended your MD residency in 2016 you have to file a MD part-year return.

For the year of 2016, I only lived in MD for 3 months, do I still need to file it?

According to the 2016 Maryland tax instructions, all Maryland part-year residents must file an MD return.  See "Part-year Residents" on page 1 of this reference:  <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://forms.marylandtaxes.com/current_forms/resident_booklet.pdf">http://forms.marylandtaxes.com/cu...>
