After you file

Normally, in this situation, the IRS is reviewing the information you reported on your return and certain deductions and credits you took to verify the information.

Your notice or letter will explain the reason for the contact and give you instructions on how to handle the issue. Please see the IRS website for Understanding Your IRS Notice or Letter You can also look up the notice number on the IRS website for specific details.

You should also have a contact number listed on the notice that you can call and the IRS Representative will explain the notice and actions, if any, they need from you. If not, call the main number at (800) 829-1040.

The TurboTax 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee states: "If you pay an IRS or state penalty or interest because of a TurboTax calculation error, we'll pay you the penalty and interest".
