Administration has asked teachers to mentor stutdents after school. We do not get any compensation for this and is "expected". Can I deduct this? If so how much?

After you file

The IRS does not allow a deduction for your time and labor "donated", but you can deduct any out of pocket expenses up to $250 incurred for your mentoring as an Educator deduction if you are mentoring K-12 students .

To enter the above expenses:

  • Type in teacher supplies in the search box, top right of your screen, then click the magnifying glass

  • Click the jump to teacher supplies  link in the search results

  • Follow to prompts and online instructions
