If you will owe more than $1,000 in additional taxes you should 1) make the estimates or 2) increase the taxes withheld though another source of income (W-2, 1099"s etc.).

Thanks for your prompt response! I actually lowered the number of allowances I am claiming on W4 from 5 to 3. Do I still need to make estimated payments in 2019?
