Amending a return of a deceased person, getting check issued in name of trust? From 1310?
I need to amend a prior year return, of a person who is deceased. TurboTax prompts me to enter IRS form 1310.
But also says "you must enter a person's first and last name, you cannot enter a trust or estate with an EIN".
But the refund should not come to me, it should go to the deceased person's trust. How do I get a check issued in the name of the trust? If I have a paper check for the deceased, how do I get it reissued to the trust?
The estate was in trust, there was no court/probate.

Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Amend a return, and the overpayment, if any, will be paid to "Estate of <deceased>"
If you did not yet close the estate bank account, there will be no problem.
It is not income and the executor can disburse the funds.
