So the maximum amount for Social Security tax for 2017 is $7,886.40. There is no maximum for Medicare tax.

Actually, what I want to know is what the $ amount maximum that will be withheld annually. I though it was $7300 annually, but I've surpassed that amount this year and I'm still seeing an amount being withheld in from my paycheck.
