If I'm a part time independent contractor making less than $5000 a year, can I still file a joint return and how do I report my income?

My husband is a regular employee who receives a W2. Since I made so little, I'm told I won't receive a form 1099. I understand I need to calculate my own earnings, but I'm not sure how to report them on a joint tax return?
