I entered my information to change my W4 with-holdings but now I don't want to submit it. How do I remove the request from my Tax filing?

Get your taxes done using TurboTax

You don't have to remove it from your taxes, because nothing happens to it with the IRS. It's just a form that you print out and give to your employer so that they withhold more from your pay.

But if you want to delete it anyway, you can. To delete a form in TurboTax:

  • Log in, and choose Tax Tools, then Tools on the left side of your screen.
  • In the Tools Center, choose Delete A Form.
  • In Review Form List, find the W-4  Info and choose Delete, if it's there.
  • On the screen Delete Selected Form, select Delete. After the screen Form Successfully Deleted, go back to the forms list, and verify that the form has been deleted. Check your tax return to verify that the result is correct.
  • In the same way, review the list of forms, and also delete your W-4. See the screenshot below.
