Our daughter attended one full-load semester in 2018. Class: Jan 8 - Apr 26, Finals: Apr 30 - May 3, Semester end: May 3. Is this 5 mo./full-time status for tax year?
We have two daughters that attended college for only one semester in 2018. Classes began January 8 and ended April 26. Finals were April 30-May 3. The semester ended May 3. One earned an associates degree and one graduated with a bachelors degree. We're trying to determine whether they should be considered as full-time or part-time students, and whether or not they would be considered our dependents based on the, "during some part of each or any 5 calendar months of the year" and "The 5 calendar months don't have to be consecutive." Please advise.

Yes, they are dependents as long as you provided over half of their support. The 5 calendar month rule is there specifically for this situation where they are only in school for the spring or fall semester for the particular year.
