I was in a union last year, local 11 for hotel workers. i paid $50 a month. do i need to report that?

You can but you don't have to report the union dues; they are part of your itemized deductions. If you are not itemizing (have mortgage interest, real estate tax, state income tax, charity, etc.), the dues deduction will not make a difference on our tax return. The data entry is as follows:
- Federal Taxes
- Deductions & Credits (you may have to select See all tax breaks)
- Employment Expenses
- Job-Expenses for W2 Income
