Can I deduct my homeowner's insurance?

by TurboTax457 Updated 7 months ago

You can't deduct the cost of homeowner's insurance for things like fire, casualty, or theft on your personal residence.

However, you may be able to deduct a pro-rated portion of your home insurance as part of the home office deduction if you're self-employed.

Homeowner's insurance on your rental property can also be deducted as a rental expense.
