I know this is a dumb question. But....i haven’t filed taxes in a few years due to not working much. To file last years taxes I use 2018 w2’s, right?

Income is reportable in the tax year it is received by/paid to you. So you only report 2018 W-2's on your 2018 tax return. If you have W-2's for other years, you do not and can not include them on your 2018 tax return.

You may still need to file prior year returns, though.

you can still file 2016 and 2017 to claim refunds.  any refund for 2015 or earlier is now the property of the US Government.   however, if the IRS has that you owe, sooner or later they will likely request payment and the collection tactics that they can use are numerous
