Why isn't any SSA-1099SM income included in Box 1 of our federal return? It only includes my other income (401K disbursements, ordinary dividends, etc.

SSA Box 5 = $42K. Other income = $27K. On Federal Form: Total income and AGI = $27K (same as all other non-SS income). This does not seem right.

If you entered a SSA1099 for your Social Security benefits you will find it on Form 1040 on lines 6a and 6b.

Did you enter the SSA1099 in the right spot?

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

To see how much of your Social Security was taxable, look at lines 6a and 6b of your 2024 Form 1040

Social Security is on 1040 line 6a and any taxable amount on 6b.

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:

Married Filing Jointly: $32,000

Single or head of household: $25,000

Married Filing Separately: 0

To see the Social Security Benefits Calculation Worksheet  in Turbo Tax Online version you would have to save your return with all the worksheets to your computer.   Or if you are using the Desktop CD/Download Software you can switch to Forms Mode (click Forms in the upper right) and click on SS in the list on the left side.

Why isn't any SSA-1099SM income included in Box 1 of our federal return? It only includes my other income (401K disbursements, ordinary dividends, etc.

Thanks. That was it.
