Why did I receive a check from IRS rather than electronic bank deposit? Amount was not what turbo tax filed.

Were you having the fees deducted from your refund?  If your deposit Info was wrong and they had to mail you a check they charge another $20.

first the DD is a request not a requirement  ... and if they sent less than expected the wait for the letter of explanation that will mailed in the next 2 weeks.
