Two of my teen sons received a 1099-misc with the amount in box 7. Do they need to file their own tax return?
Your sons are required to file their own tax returns if the amounts reported in box 7 of their forms 1099-MISC are over $400.
If you claim them as dependents, they have to indicate on their respective tax returns that they can be claimed as dependents by someone else.
