Intuit has elected not to renew its participation in the IRS Free File Program and will no longer be offering IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax. You may still qualify for other IRS Free File offers by visiting http:www.IRS.Gov/freefile. Or you can visit www.turbotax.com to see available TurboTax offerings.
TurboTax is one of the members of the Free File Alliance, which is a group of about a dozen tax software companies that work with the IRS to provide free filing through Free File on the IRS web site. Free filing does not happen automatically. You have to access it through the IRS web site. Free File and the regular TurboTax commercial web site are completely separate. If you go to the TurboTax web site you are not using Free File. You are using the regular TurboTax software. It will not send you to Free File, even if you qualify. It appears that you chose to use TurboTax Deluxe, which is never free.
Free File is at the following link on the IRS web site.
