Retired not working own and manage my airbnb rental - Why is TT asking me for Business name, assets, etc..

Hi all,

I'm 65, forced out of work my profession (I.T.) and skill erosion (It happens with age) and no rely on my airbnb rental to get me by.

I'm currently using the Premier version (Not sure if thats what I should be using)?? and although I received a 1099K and added it 

I'm wondering if I wandered onto a "BUSINESS" version of TT when I dont think I need it as I dont have a business, LLC, S2. It's just me and I have rental income which I got a 1099K from Airbnb. No W2 wage income either. I dont know how to tell what version of TT I am using as its asking alot of business type questions (Assets, depreciation, etc)

Can anyone help me understand why its asking me

"Do you have more self-employed income for Vacation Rental Owner to add"

"Your 2024 self-employed work summary"

I'm not self-employed, no LLC, S2,  Just need ability to add 1099K income for a rental property.

Can anyone help?

Based on the information you shared, it does appear that your rental income and expenses are being reported on Schedule C for Business Income and Expenses.  Anything that you entered so far will need to be deleted and re-entered in a different section.  

 

To delete the Schedule C, go to the magnifying glass at the top of the screen and enter Schedule C.  This will give you an option to click and go directly to that section.  Then, you should see a summary screen where you can click the trash can icon beside the Schedule C that you have already entered.  

 

Next, you will need to go to the Schedule E, Rental Income and Expenses section of your return in order to enter the details about your Airbnb rental property.
