If your return is being rejected for EIC, you need to complete Form 8862 in order to claim the EIC and e-file your Tax Return.
- Login to your TurboTax Account
- Click "Take Me To My Return"
- Click "Search" in the upper right corner, then type "8862" in the Search Box
- When the results populate, click the "Jump to Link"
- This will take you to the Earned Income Credit Section. Click "Continue"
- Walk through the TurboTax interview questions until you get to "Do any of these uncommon situations apply?" and check the box that says, "I/we got a letter/notice from the IRS telling me/us to fill out an 8862 form to claim the Earned Income Credit"
- Select "Continue" then "Done"
- Next to "Since you got an IRS notice, we need to check on a few things", select "No, none of these apply and I need to fill out the 8862 form"

Select "Continue" and answer the remaining questions and retransmit your return
