Can I switch to a more basic Turbo Tax software than the one I am currently using without having to reenter my information? I have a low annual income.

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY?  I WANT THE FREE EDITION

The information that you can enter in Free Edition is pretty limited now.  Thanks to the new tax laws, there are no more simple Form 1040EZ or 1040A's.  Everything goes on a little “postcard-size” Form 1040 that has six extra "schedules" with it, and if you need any of those schedules, you are not able to use the Free Edition.  Using the standard deduction instead of itemizing does NOT mean you will not need any of those schedules.

To use Free File you must use a different account and user ID.

Note:  If you do not qualify to use Free File then you will have to upgrade to Deluxe or higher in the paid versions of the software.

Thanks for the info.  What if I switch to Turbo Tax basic? Do I have to create a new user ID and password for that one?

Be careful..
There is TurboTax Basic desktop software which costs $49.99 and state software is extra--that is a download and you can only use it on a full PC or Mac.  The software goes on your own hard drive--no logins or passwords.

There is online Basic Live but it is $79.99 + $44.99 for state.

You mentioned being "low income"  so if you do not qualify for Free File, you have to upgrade to a paid version.

You can remove the Live expert help without losing your data

No.  That is a lower version than Deluxe.  The only thing you can do is remove Live from your Deluxe version without starting over.  And even if you start over in the Free Edition or Basic you might still need to upgrade to Deluxe to enter something.
