I was told that my fee was $83, however when I received my refund I was charged $125 can someone please explain this?

Can someone please explain the difference between the fee I was told I would have to pay, and the actual higher fees I paid?

Did you choose to pay the fees by having them deducted from your federal refund instead of paying upfront using a credit or debit card before you e-filed?  If you chose that, you were also charged a $40 ($45 in CA) "refund processing fee" that goes to the third party bank.  That bank receives your refund from the IRS. takes out the fees you owe to TurboTax, collects its own $40 processing fee, and sends you the rest.
