I amended my 2018 taxes and was told I was getting a refund of over 2000.00. Now I'm being told I owe over 5,800. I'm confused!

Told you owe $5800 by whom? And what is your reason for amending?

I didn't claim Head of Household so I amended my return.  Turbo Tax said I got a refund based on the change, but then I got the return to print and mail and the return said I owed 5,800.00.

So you filed the original return as Single with your child as your dependent?   
Did you get the refund for the original tax return you filed?

I found my mistake!  Originally I owed over 8,000 before I amended my return to include Head of Household. I was going to give them 3,000 and had asked for an installment plan.  The remaining that I owed them based on the installment plan was over 5,000.  Since I amended, I no longer need the installment agreement and I am getting a refund.
