Filed extension for 22 but paid with Q1 Estimated Taxes for 20233

As the title says, I just noticed I filed for an extension back then for 22 and also accidentally grouped my Q1 23 estimated tax payment with it. So there's no record of me paying my 2023 Q1 tax. How do I claim or correct the credit for the payment to apply correctly to 2023. I never claim the payment on my 2022 tax return either.

You can't transfer the 2022 estimated tax payment to your 2023 or any other tax year. You would have to file an amended return for 2022 to get a refund of those taxes paid in. However, when the IRS processed your 2022 return, they should have noticed the overpayment and refunded it to you by now. But if not, an amended return would accomplish that.
