The year your child was born, you got the full child tax credit, for the year, even though she was only with you 5 days. It works the same way in 2024, when she turns 17. It's all or nothing. I think you mean the child tax credit. You lose the child tax credit when the child turns 17. After they are 17 you get the $500 credit for other dependents instead of the $2000 child tax credit. She is still your dependent---but the credit is lower.
To qualify for the Child Tax credit, your child should be under age 17 by 12/31/2024.
The $500 Credit for Other Dependents allows taxpayers a credit for certain dependents that don't qualify for the Child Tax Credit, such as qualifying children age 17 or older, adult dependents, and dependents who have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
