State Income Doubled

I already filed my federal return with no issues. I live in MA and work in CT. Let's say I made $50k in 2024 working in CT. On my W-2, boxes 15-17 show state wages as $50k for CT and $50k for MA.

I filled out but have not submitted my CT return as a non-resident with no issues. The issue occurs when I work on my MA return. I am asked to confirm that I made $100k in 2024 because that is what TurboTax transferred from my W-2. When I indicate that is is incorrect, I just get the option to transfer only wages identified as earned in Massachusetts. But that isn't exactly accurate since I didn't earn them in MA and means I can't e-file.

Any suggestions?

State Income Doubled

Your resident state automatically taxes all income listed on the w2. You need to go back to your w2 and remove the MA income completely. The IRS and both states have already received a copy. The program is just moving money where it should be.

Once you remove the extra MA money, your return will be correct.
