Also, WI and IL have tax reciprocity for W-2 income.  WI residents who work in IL are not subject to IL income tax on their W-2 income.

Bottom line: once you move to WI your income is subject to WI state income tax regardless of where you earn it.  As @xmasbaby0 said, if your employer cannot withhold WI income tax for you, then you must make quarterly estimated tax payments to WI.

Moving from FL to WI - RESOLVED

Start by having a conversation with the employer.   Have you asked if the employer can withhold Wisconsin state tax?   If they can, then you would be fine, and you would file a part-year WI state tax return at tax time.   If the employer cannot/will not withhold WI tax, then you could pay estimated payments to WI yourself and then file a WI return on which you would reconcile the amount already paid with your state tax liability to see if you owe more or get back a state refund.

As for considering your work location to be in FL---no.   If you are LIVING and WORKING in Wisconsin you cannot pretend to be in FL.  Once you begin to live and work in WI you are subject to paying state tax to the state of WI.
