To review how you answered the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) questions on your 2023 tax return.

Step 1

To print your complete tax return, including all worksheets, in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:

  1. Open your TurboTax account.
  2. Click on Tax Home in the left column.
  3. Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.
  4. Under 2023, click on Amend (change) 2023 return.
  5. Click on Tax Tools in the left column.
  6. Click on Print Center.
  7. Click on Print, save, or preview this year's return.
  8. Enter the information on the following screens.
  9. Put a checkmark on the return you want to print and click on Include government and TurboTax worksheets.
  10. View and print your forms.
  11. Lastly, click Cancel Amend in the left column.

Step 2

Review the 1099-R Worksheet:

  1. Open the PDF file and locate the 1099-R worksheet(s).
  2. Look for the RMD questions and your recorded answers.

What If You Can’t Find the Answer?

  • If the RMD question isn't visible in the worksheets or documents:
    • TurboTax may not save the exact question-and-answer details but uses your response to calculate the RMD amount.
    • Compare the taxable amount (Box 2a) and RMD-related entries on Form 1040 to estimate your response:
      • If Box 2a matches Box 1 (Gross Distribution): Likely marked "ALL" as RMD.
      • If Box 2a is less than Box 1: Likely marked "PART" as RMD.
  • Refer to this TurboTax article for more information on deductibility for IRA/Pensions
