I over funded my Roth IRA in 2023. I funded $7500 (I am over 50 years old) in November of 2023. I realized that I over funded the account in March of 2024 after I filed my 2023 form 1040. I ask my Roth Administrator to remove the money and the approximately $1000 of earnings made between December of 2023 and March of 2024 which they have done. They also withheld $100 in Federal tax withholding. My administrator is telling me they will send me a 1099R in 2025. How do I deal with the IRS this year for the notification of my withdrawal, the earning on my overfunding that spanned both 2023 & 2024, and the $100 in federal taxes collected in 2024? Do I file an amended taxes return now? Do I use the 2024 1099R I receive in 2025 to account for the $100 paid in taxes?

Is your Roth IRA holding funds contributed prior to 2023?
If so is that more than $1000 ?

Spaning years is irrelevant; all that matters is that the custodian computed the allocable earnings.
