It’s now clear that it is unlikely to obtain an SSN for our child, as we will be on these visas (I am on an L-1 visa, and my dependents – spouse and child – are on L-2 visas) for approximately the next 4-5 years, until our Green Card process is completed. Therefore, there is no point in filing for an extension until October.
However, do you think the child on L-2 visa is eligible to obtain an ITIN now (so that we can get $500 credit)? Thank you, this sounds promising.
