Business Trip Expense

I have a business conference in Las Vegas Monday Sept. 9-11. If I fly into Las Vegas on Sept 6 so I can hang out there for the weekend before I attend the business conference, can I expense the fight and hotel still?

Business Trip Expense

Yes, you may deduct your flight and hotel room if the intent of the trip is to a attend an event for your business.  You should keep a record of the purpose of the event, all receipts for expenses incurred, including meals.  Also note that you may not deduct any entertainment related expenses.  Here is an IRS link for more detailed information regarding business travel:  https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc51

Thank you for attending our event.  LindaSh, EA
