Hello,
My returns are being rejected because "If Schedule 3 (Form 1040), 'ReconciledPremiumTaxCreditAmt' has a non-zero value, then Form 8962 must be present in the return."
I typed in my 1095-A and there is a Form 8962 in the Forms List, however, If I only print returns to be filed, the Form 8962 is not in that list.
What can I do to force Form 8962 to be present in the return?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Is there an amount entered on Schedule 3 Line 9?
Yes there is. When I right-click and show Data Source, it shows "Form 8962 Reconciled Prem Tax Cr".
Clicking on the amount brings up Form 8962 line 26. Can I force Form 8962 to be present in the electronic filing?
Thank you.
What is your filing status? If you are filing as Married Filing Separately you cannot take the Premium Tax Credit unless you qualify for an exception.
If this not the case the Form 8962 would be included with the tax return along with Form 1095-A and Schedule 3.
If the Form 1095-A and Form 8962 are completed correctly and the 8962 is not included with the e-filed return, then you will need to contact TurboTax support for assistance.
The other less favorable option would be to print and mail the tax return to include the Form 8962. You can print the 8962 from Forms mode by clicking the Print button when the 8962 is displayed in Forms mode.

My filing status is Single. I got insurance through the state ACA plan and received a 1095-A. It looks like Form 8962 calculates a credit for the subsidy not taken through the year for entry on schedule 3 and eventual credit on 1040. It looks like schedule 2 would be used if you got too much subsidy. Am I interpreting the instructions correctly? Shouldn't Form 8962 be present if a credit is calculated on line 26 for eventual inclusion in the entry onto line 1040 line 31?
Yes, your interpretation of the instructions are correct. The credit should flow from Schedule 3 to Form 1040 Line 31. There is nothing unusual with how the credit is being reported on your tax return. The has been done thousands of times by other users of the TurboTax software, desktop and online, for e-filing. Why you are having this difficulty is a mystery.
Hopefully TurboTax support will be able to give you the assistance required to get the Form 8962 included in your e-filing so that you do not have to print and mail the 2023 tax return.
I so appreciate your help.

Hi Dave... I received the same error today with the following additional info:
`This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected on September 27, 2024.
On or after September 27, 2024 open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing.`
I suspect that you having found it yesterday and reporting this got it into the queue, so thank you for that.
I was wondering...did support provided any additional details for you?

Support representative did not have further information on the issue in call today.
I resubmitted my returns and now see the 'processing' message with fix coming 9/27/2024.
